Parents & Teachers Push Back At Santa Rosa City Schools Board Meeting

Santa Rosa City Schools is bracing for a massive overhaul as the district looks to cut more than 100 jobs to avoid a state takeover.

According to the Press Democrat, the proposed $14 million in cuts would largely dismantle student support systems, eliminating elementary counselors and nearly all school-based therapists just as pandemic-era funding runs dry.

At a marathon board meeting Wednesday, teachers and parents warned that fewer adults on campus will lead to larger class sizes and major safety concerns, leaving many wondering how the district will provide “life-saving care” when the new school year begins.
