Sunday Afternoon Fire Does $30,000 In Damage To Brand-New Classroom At Calistoga Elementary School

A close call at Calistoga Elementary School Sunday afternoon as a fire sparked by construction tools caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a brand-new classroom.

Firefighters arrived on the scene just after 3:00 p.m. and were able to knock down the flames quickly, credit goes to the room’s new sheetrock for keeping the fire from spreading to the rest of the building.

While the room suffered some significant smoke and heat damage, no injuries were reported, and investigators are still looking into exactly how those tools ignited the blaze.
