Sebastopol Based Barbeque Sauce Announces $400 Million Deal

One of Sebastopol’s biggest success stories is moving into the big leagues after the Marzetti Company announced a $400 million deal to acquire Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce.

The North Bay Business Journal reports founded just six years ago by Justin Gill using his grandmother’s family recipe, the brand has exploded in popularity with nearly $90 million in sales last year alone.

Marzetti—the same company behind Chick-fil-A and Olive Garden’s retail sauces—plans to take the local favorite global once the deal closes this June.
