Former Cloverdale Resident Denies Claims He Murdered Sara Ann Greer In 1982

In a shocking turn in a 44-year-old cold case, former Cloverdale resident James Unick admitted in court Friday to having sex with 13-year-old Sara Ann Geer in 1982, but denied killing her.

The Press Democrat reports Unick, who was arrested last year after DNA on a discarded cigarette linked him to the crime, claimed the teenager propositioned him the night she disappeared.

Prosecutors, however, maintain that Unick strangled the girl and left her body in a downtown alley, noting he lived directly along the route she took home the night of her murder.
