With the April 10 property tax deadline looming, Sonoma County officials are warning residents that mailed checks are being stolen and altered.
To avoid fraud, the Tax Collector’s Office urges taxpayers to pay online, by phone, or in person.
Payments must be received by 5:00 p.m. this Friday to avoid late penalties. If you must mail your payment, officials recommend using a secure drop box rather than an unmonitored mailbox.
