Rainy skies didn’t stop a massive crowd from forming outside Santa Rosa’s Mercy Wellness Dispensary Monday morning as shoppers lined the block for 4/20 discounts.
Per the Press Democrat, the unofficial holiday, which originated with a group of San Rafael high schoolers back in 1971, has grown from a local codeword into a major annual event for the cannabis community.
Local dispensaries saw a high turnout as enthusiasts braved the elements to take advantage of significant sales and promotions. While 4/20 is often marked by large celebrations, many in Santa Rosa are focused on the retail experience, stocking up on their favorite products.
Despite the downpour, the mood remained festive as the community celebrated the long-standing tradition of the April 20th marijuana holiday.
