Teen Arrested in Gang-Related Shooting Near Cinco de Mayo Festival

Santa Rosa police have arrested a 19-year-old Ukiah man in connection with Tuesday night’s shooting outside the Roseland Cinco de Mayo festival.

The Press Democrat reports the suspect was taken into custody early Wednesday morning on suspicion of assault with a firearm and gang-related charges, though the weapon remains missing. Investigators believe the shooting followed an altercation in the Roseland Library parking lot that left a 20-year-old man in critical condition.

Police Chief John Cregan condemned the act as a “senseless act of gang violence” that marred a family-focused community event. While the victim is now in stable condition, authorities are searching for additional suspects and offering a $2,500 reward for information.

Event organizers say they plan to review security measures but remain committed to continuing the annual tradition in Roseland.
