Sonoma County officials are inviting the community to a public forum on May 12 to review the Sheriff’s Office’s interactions with federal immigration authorities.
The meeting, known as the TRUTH Act forum, is required by state law to provide transparency on how local law enforcement shares information with ICE regarding incarcerated individuals.
Data from 2025 shows the Sheriff’s Office responded to 69 of the 601 notification requests received, resulting in one transfer to federal custody based on a warrant. Under California law, the Sheriff’s Office does not enforce federal immigration policy but may notify ICE when individuals convicted of serious crimes are scheduled for release.
The forum begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Board Chambers in Santa Rosa and will be available via Zoom with Spanish interpretation provided.
