A 15-year-old Santa Rosa boy is in custody this morning after leading Sonoma police on a brief but dangerous pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the incident began just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday when officers responded to reports of suspicious loitering at a Broadway gas station. The teen fled the scene in a silver Hyundai, eventually crashing into a parked car near First Street East before attempting to escape on foot.
Investigators discovered the vehicle’s ignition had been tampered with and recovered burglary tools, including screwdrivers and gloves, from the scene.
The juvenile faces multiple charges, including felony evading and vehicle theft; fortunately, no injuries were reported in the crash.
