Planned public safety power shutoffs are expected to conclude following a weekend of fierce, 70-mile-per-hour winds.
According to the Press Democrat, Pacific Gas and Electric cut power to thousands of customers across fifteen counties on Sunday in the first wildfire-safety shutoff of the year.
In Sonoma and Napa counties alone, more than 11,000 residents were plunged into darkness due to a combination of planned outages and severe wind damage. By midday Monday, PG&E issued an weather “all-clear” for most areas, allowing crews to begin inspecting lines and repairing mangled equipment.
Utility officials are reminding the public to stay far away from any downed power lines and to call 911 immediately to report damage.
