The Sonoma Valley Unified School District is locking in its game plan for the upcoming school year, centering on three major goals: boosting literacy, building community trust, and tackling chronic absenteeism.
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the strategy comes straight out of a Board of Trustees study session led by new Superintendent Jason Sutter, who just wrapped up a 60-day listening tour of local classrooms.
To turn things around, the district is overhauling its upper management—bringing in a new head of educational services and a new HR director on July 1st, while currently hunting for a permanent chief business official.
Superintendent Sutter acknowledges that the leadership shuffle will take some transition time, but says he’s highly optimistic about the energy the new team will bring to local schools this fall.
