A Rohnert Park woman and Team USA kayak fishing gold medalist is on a long road to recovery following a terrifying, life-changing car crash last month.
The Press Democrat reports Annie Nagel, who also works as an office manager at Kenilworth Junior High in Petaluma, blacked out and hit a tree after a brain malformation suddenly leaked. The collision left her with a severe concussion and major ankle injuries that have confined her to a wheelchair.
Since the accident, a massive wave of local support has poured in, with coworkers, students, and fitness friends stepping up to help with her around-the-clock care.
Additionally, her fishing teammates launched an online fundraising campaign that has already raised over twenty-one thousand dollars to help cover her medical bills and lost income.
