Decorated Marine Veteran To Keynote Sonoma Memorial Day

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Harry “Bucky” Peterson will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the 68th Annual Sonoma Valley Joint Memorial Day Observance this Monday.

Per the Sonoma Index-Tribune, the ceremony kicks off at 11 a.m. at Sonoma Veterans Memorial Park, with former Navy submarine officer Chip Allen serving as master of ceremonies. Peterson, a local Sonoma resident, brings a decorated 33-year military career that spans combat leadership in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Organizers are asking attendees to wear uniforms or appropriate attire to honor the day.

Following the formal remembrance, the public is invited to an “All-American Picnic” at the adjacent Veterans Memorial Hall, hosted jointly by local Rotary Clubs and the Native Daughters of the Golden West.
