Nearly thirty Santa Rosa Police runners took to the streets this morning for the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Accompanied by Mayor Mark Stapp and city employees, the department’s team carried the “Flame of Hope” over five miles from Santa Rosa to Rohnert Park. The torch was officially handed off to the California Highway Patrol to continue its journey to the Special Olympics opening ceremonies.
Officials emphasize the run is part of a year-round commitment to inclusion, with local police raising more than fifty thousand dollars for Northern California athletes over the past two years.
SRPD leaders expressed deep gratitude to the community members who lined the route to cheer them on.
