Creekside High Students Trade Textbooks for Real-World Trade Skills

Students at Creekside High School recently traded traditional classrooms for hands-on career training through a semester-long partnership with the Santa Rosa-based Magnolia Project.

The Sonoma Index-Tribune reports all 67 students participated in a three-day immersive program, practicing real-world skills ranging from cosmetology and woodworking to culinary arts and film production. The initiative pairs students with local industry mentors to bridge the gap between their daily education and future economic opportunities.

Participating seniors reported that the real-world exposure helped them refine their career goals and gain invaluable, practical experience for life after graduation.

While school leaders and the Magnolia Project hope to continue this successful partnership into the next school year, they are actively seeking community support to secure funding for future programs.
