BoDean Company Faces Multi-Million Dollar Fine Over Sediment Flow into Porter Creek

A Santa Rosa-based construction materials supplier is facing a record eight-point-six-million-dollar fine. The BoDean Company is accused of allowing sediment and fine silt from its Mark West Quarry to flow into Porter Creek during recent rainy seasons. The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board says the company violated basic permitting standards and the federal Clean Water Act dating back to the winter of 2018. Officials say the company put salmon and other aquatic creatures at risk of suffocation and other harm.
