Couple Identified in Fatal Napa Bicycle Crash with Lumber Truck

Authorities have identified the two bicyclists hit and killed Tuesday by shifting lumber on a Freightliner truck in Napa County. Christian Deaton, 52, and Michelle Deaton, 48, a married couple from Portland, Oregon, were riding north about 11 a.m. on their bicycles when the wood shifted over the edge of the truck and hit the Deatons. Christian was pronounced dead at the crash site. Michelle suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where she later died. The driver of the truck, owned by by Central Valley Builders Supply, pulled over after the crash and cooperated with the CHP.
