CSU Sticking with Six-Percent Tuition Hike

The California State University system is sticking by its tuition hike… for the most part. The board of trustees will raise tuition 6-percent a year. However, instead of indefinitely, they are limiting it to five years of increases, after push back by some trustees and student groups. Trustees are expected to vote on the increase at next Wednesday’s meeting. If passed, the increases would begin in the fall of 2024 and are expected to raise $148-million in the plan’s first year. A report last May found that Cal State could only cover 85-percent of student needs.
