Longtime Sonoma County educator Carole Ellis has died at the age of 86. Ellis died at her apartment in Santa Rosa last Thursday. No cause of death has been announced. Ellis was a teacher at Rincon Valley Middle School, then a vice principal at Comstock Middle School, then the principal of Cook Middle School. After retiring, she came out of retirement to accept the job of principal at the former, private, all-girls Ursuline High School. Ellis, also a civil rights advocate, was later a trustee of Santa Rosa Junior College.
