The SMART Train has settled a lawsuit surrounding the bicycle and pedestrian path. The case involved dozens of landowners who contested that the agency illegally built its bicycle and pedestrian path on their properties without permission. The settlement total is over $600-thousand dollars and is intended to disincentivize others from pursuing similar legal action in the future. Another case is still pending surrounding other landowners and further building of the bike and pedestrian path. Twenty-eight miles of the path have been finished while 9 are under construction and another 33 are being planned.
