Deputy was Run Over by Another Deputy in March 4th Shooting That Killed Armed Suspect

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy who was critically injured at the end of a vehicle pursuit in Santa Rosa was run over by another deputy. It happened on March 4th, at the end of a chase involving a suspect armed with an AK-47. The man was killed in a shootout after firing as many as 50 rounds at deputies. Deputy Nicholas Dellia was laying out a spike strip to stop the suspect’s car when the suspect crashed. As he was firing at the man, he was hit by Deputy James Blount’s patrol car. A total of four deputies were injured in the incident.
