Sonoma County restauranteur Octavio Diaz is facing a class-action lawsuit from employee Maria Ayala, who alleges wage theft and other workplace violations. Recently, Diaz and his restaurant, Agave Healdsburg, settled with the U.S. Department of Labor for nearly $83,000 in back wages, damages, and penalties after an investigation found wage and overtime violations. Ayala, who began working at Agave Healdsburg last year, claims Diaz threatened employees with deportation if they cooperated with the investigation.
