Santa Rosa has partially settled its civil lawsuit against 13 residents accused of organizing an illegal sideshow and street race in the city in July of 2022. The city will dismiss the cases against 12 of the defendants in exchange for each of them paying a fine and performing volunteer work. Each defendant must pay the city 500 dollars for property damage, complete the volunteer work within a year and join a 20-hour rehabilitative program by nonprofit Restorative Resources. If they don’t fulfill the terms of the settlement, they’ll have to pay the city an additional 15-thousand-dollars in damages. The 13th defendant is still behind bars on unrelated charges.
