New Coronavirus Variant is Now Top Strain in California

UCSF health officials say that one of the coronavirus variants in California is now the dominant strain. Infectious disease expert with UCSF, Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, said yesterday that the new variant that was first discovered in California is now the most prevalent one. He said that its presence in the state increased from about 5-percent in December to about 50-percent right now, and that number could be higher in Bay Area counties.
