The county’s largest physician owned health care provider is closing shop. The Press Democrat reports that Santa Rosa-based Northern California Medical Associates is shutting down officially on May 2nd. Along with the strain of the pandemic, the group cites that they have been hurt greatly by complying with insurance company requirements, competing against larger hospitals, and devastating wildfire seasons have contributed to their collapse. The layoffs will be significant: 151 employees will be let go, including 26 physicians and 7 nurse practitioners.
