The City of Rohnert Park is beginning to address their homeless situation. In a special meeting this week, the city council directed staff to further explore three potential locations for supportive housing: 751 Rohnert Park Expressway West, 6020 Labath Avenue, and 1450 Medical Center Drive. Rohnert Park officials say they need provide more housing for homeless residents in order to enforce camping and overnight parking ordinances. A federal court ruling requires local officials to offer adequate shelters before a camp can be cleared. Rohnert Park residents, however, voiced their displeasure at the actions arguing that housing in residential areas would present safety issues.
