A former middle school principal from Cloverdale is denying that he failed to report child abuse. Mark Lucchetti, the former principal of Washington Middle School, was charged with five counts of failure of a mandated reporter to report child abuse or neglect last November. This came after several investigations by the district and the Cloverdale Police Department uncovered five incidents of failing to report child abuse during the 2021-22 school year. Lucchetti’s attorney tells the Press Democrat that his client has done nothing wrong and that the allegations were unfounded. Lucchetti has since resigned and has reached a settlement with the district disputing allegations against him. After a short appearance in Sonoma County Superior Court this week, the case has been continued to May 24th.
