A Petaluma cab driver has been arrested for sexual assaulting a passenger. Late Tuesday night, a woman called J’s Taxi requesting a ride from the downtown area to a residence on the west side of town. The cab driver, 41-year-old Noel Ortiz Cortez picked up the victim and drove to her destination. Before she exited the cab, Cortez went into the back seat through a passenger’s door and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, the victim exited the cab and contacted the police. Officers responded and found Cortez, arresting him for the assault. Detectives recovered forensic evidence from Cortez and the taxicab.
