Firefighters have gained control of the Corral Fire, which burned 14-thousand acres over the weekend, destroying at least one home and closing two freeways. Mandatory evacuations southwest of Tracy were downgraded to warnings. The fire began around 3 p.m. Saturday along Corral Hollow Road. As of this morning, it is 75-percent contained. Strong winds and dry grass hampered efforts, but progress was made in protecting homes near Interstate 580. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit has sent assistance in the form of 10 Engines, 2 Hand Crews, 1 Dozer, 1 Air Attack plane, 1 Helicopter and 1 Battalion Chief.
