The former leader of a school district in Santa Cruz has been chosen as the next superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools. District officials are picking Daisy Morales to replace outgoing superintendent Anna Trunnell, who announced her resignation in April. Morales is a bilingual and bicultural educator and is the former superintendent of the Live Oak School District. She resigned from that role in March, after a budget crisis that led to the firing of two budget administrators and prompted the district to send layoff notices to dozens of teachers, staff and administrators. The Santa Rosa City Schools Board will vote on whether to confirm Morales at its meeting on Wednesday. Her first day on the job would be next Monday, July 1st.
