The site of a closed movie theater in Downtown Santa Rosa could become a large meeting and events center. That’s what a developer is planning to do with the old Third Street Cinemas building. A conceptual design shows a four-story building featuring a top floor ballroom under a wine barrel-shaped roof. The developer, Roy Nee, owns the property. Sonoma County Tourism is also planning to build a convention center down the street from the proposed development. Both facilities would be similarly sized.
