Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is resigning as leader of his Liberal Party, but will remain prime minister until a new leader is chosen.
He made the announcement Monday, calling it the “best for the country.” Trudeau has served as the country’s prime minister since 2015.
His decision comes as he has faced falling poll numbers ahead of a general election many analysts predict he will lose.
