Sebastopol Apartment Complex Tells Dozens Of Low-Income Residents To Move Out

A Sebastopol apartment complex, originally intended for farmworkers, is facing controversy after telling dozens of low-income residents to move out.

The Woodmark Apartments developer says they couldn’t find enough eligible tenants, so they allowed other low-income residents to move in. Now, many of those families are being told to leave to make way for farmworkers.

The Press Democrat reports they’ve been offered “cash for keys” to move, but residents fear this could cause them to lose future housing and medical benefits.

The situation has drawn the attention of legal aid groups and local officials, who are now looking for a solution.
