A defense witness faces scrutiny Monday in the trial of animal rights activist Zoe Rosenberg. Carla Cabral, who cared for four chickens taken from a Petaluma Poultry facility in 2023, testified the birds were in poor health.
Prosecutors questioned her ties to Rosenberg and activism with Direct Action Everywhere, suggesting she may be biased. The Press Democrat reports Cabral acknowledged she was not completely impartial and had stayed at a local rental to prepare for potential chicken deliveries.
Rosenberg faces felony conspiracy charges for allegedly removing birds and placing GPS trackers on delivery trucks.
Cabral’s testimony continues Tuesday afternoon.
