Santa Rosa City Schools Board Members To Discuss Parcel Tax Proposal

Santa Rosa City Schools board members meet tonight to discuss a proposed parcel tax to address a ten-to-15-million-dollar budget shortfall.

The district is weighing timelines for a June 2025 or November 2026 ballot. If approved, it would be the district’s first parcel tax, providing flexible funding for operations, staffing, and reserves, unlike existing bonds restricted to facilities.

Other options under review include administrator pay cuts, selling closed school sites, and additional layoffs beyond the 150 employees cut last year.
