The sentencing for former Rohnert Park police officer Joseph Huffaker, convicted of robbing motorists while impersonating a federal agent, has been postponed.
Huffaker, who faces up to 20 years in prison, requested the delay to seek a new attorney, citing a breakdown in his current relationship. According to the Press Democrat, prosecutors objected, noting the long timeline of the case and the victims’ right to finality.
A judge has rescheduled the hearing for January 21st. The delay also pushes back the sentencing of Huffaker’s former colleague and co-defendant, Brendan “Jacy” Tatum.
