Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Approve Grants For Wildfire Resilience Projects

The Board of Supervisors today approved over one-and-a-half million dollars in grants for ten new wildfire resilience projects.

The funding, sourced from the 2017 PG&E settlement, will focus on creating fuel breaks, clearing hazardous trees near critical water tanks, and securing evacuation routes in high-risk areas like Jenner, Cloverdale, and the Sonoma Valley.

Board Chair Rebecca Hermosillo says these “thoughtful investments” rely on partnerships between fire experts and local landowners.

The money isn’t just for clearing brush—it’s also an investment in people. A portion of the funds will support the Santa Rosa Junior College and the Conservation Corps to train the next generation of land management workers.

Since 2021, this program has treated nearly seven-thousand acres across the county.
