A Vallejo man has been sentenced to two years in state prison following a tragic collision that claimed the life of a Sonoma woman.
Samir Bhumbla pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter for the February 2024 crash on Lakeville Highway that killed 79-year-old Beverly Kleven. While the criminal case has closed, the legal fallout continues as Kleven’s family pursues a wrongful death lawsuit over dangerous road conditions.
The City of Petaluma has already reached a $650,000 settlement with the family, though proceedings against Caltrans remain ongoing.
