PG&E and Fire Crews Gear Up as California Braces for Wildfire Season

With warm, dry conditions on the horizon, California is racing to prepare for what could be a dangerous wildfire season.

Utility crews from PG&E are already on the ground in high-risk zones, clearing trees and brush to maintain a mandatory four-foot buffer around power lines.

The aggressive vegetation management comes under heavy scrutiny, with the utility facing strict audits following past disasters linked to equipment. Fire officials report that over 200 blazes have already ignited this year, a sobering start after last year’s 8,000 fires destroyed more than 16,000 structures.

Residents are being urged to create defensible space around their homes now before the peak summer heat arrives.
