A delivery driver’s night took a dangerous turn Saturday after his running vehicle was snatched in downtown Santa Rosa, sparking a high-speed chase.
Police used Flock safety cameras to track the car before the suspect, identified as Sergio Villalobos-Espinoza, allegedly rammed two patrol cars while trying to escape.
Officers successfully deployed spike strips and used a Sheriff’s helicopter to pin the vehicle down in a residential neighborhood, preventing the suspect from reaching major roads. Villalobos-Espinoza, who has at least 13 prior arrests for vehicle theft, was booked on multiple felonies including assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the pursuit, though several police cruisers sustained moderate damage.
