Developers have been picked for the Sonoma Developmental Center. The state has chosen The Grupe Company and Rogal & Partners to lead the $100 million redevelop project at the former Sonoma Developmental Center in Eldridge. The firms will buy 180 acres of the 945-acre property and redevelop it under the site specific plan approved by the Board of Supervisors last December. The property that will be purchased includes the buildings at the Center which will be redeveloped into 620 housing units, as well as commercial shops, a potential climate research center and a boutique hotel. The remaining acreage will be preserved as open space.
