A Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy likely violated department policy when he released a K-9 on a Graton resident in 2020. That’s according to a report from the county’s Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach. The conclusion was reached after an internal investigations audit was completed in November, but it was not released to the public until Monday. The report shows that, in April of 2020, the man was stunned with a Taser, fell to the ground, and had his hands behind his back at least two to three seconds before the deputy deployed the dog. The man, who has since moved out of Graton, won a one-point-three-million-dollar settlement with Sonoma County in January.
