Sonoma County supervisors are discussing a possible expansion to the county’s living wage ordinance. The policy sets the minimum pay and benefits for the lowest paid county employees and those working for county contractors. Next month, the living wage will rise by two-point-two-percent to $17.65 per hour. Several board members have shown support for expanding the policy to include all businesses either renting facilities or providing concessionary services to the county, or on county grounds. That would mean people like tenants and concessionaires at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, and at the Sonoma County Fair, would qualify for a basic living wage.
