Penngrove Couple gets Scammed Out of Money with Fake Arrest

A Penngrove couple has fallen victim to a fake arrest scam. Earlier this week, unknown person contacted the couple claiming that a loved one was under arrest and needed money for bail. A short time later, an Uber driver showed up at the couple’s house and took the money to be delivered. Later that same day, the couple was contacted again and told their loved one needed more money. Fortunately, the couple contacted the Sheriff’s Office for help and were told they were the victims of a scam. If someone calls you and tells you they represent a courthouse, jail, or police department demanding money for a loved one, it is most likely a scam. If you think you’ve received a suspicious call, please contact authorities.
