Plans to raise tolls on several Bay Area bridges are being put on pause. The two state lawmakers who had been pushing such a bill announced Monday that they were instead going to focus their efforts on finding different sources of transit funding. The plan called for a one-dollar-and-fifty-cent raise on tolls on seven Bay Area bridges for five years beginning in 2024. The 180-million dollars likely raised from the toll hike would’ve been used to sustain funding for Bay Area transit agencies who are losing some of their COVID relief funds.
