Host Jeff Davis talks with Jim Rickards, owner and grower at J. Rickards Winery. Jim shares the story of how he came to Sonoma County and his path to raising cattle, and eventually, taking advantage of an old vineyard planted on his property in the Alexander Valley. Some of the original vines were planted in 1908 and Jim still uses these grapes to make his wine. He expanded the vineyards, planting more Zinfandel, then Cabernet Sauvignon and other varieties. These days, half of the harvest is sold to other winemakers, and half goes into J. Rickards wines. Jim says his wines are not pretentious, rather he and his team make Darn Fine Barn Wine!
