The Good Stuff – Andrea Robinson
In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk to Andrea Robinson, Master Sommelier, Chef, Television Personality, and Author.
Andrea Robinson is a leading wine educator and one of only 28 women in the world to hold the title of Master Sommelier—the first woman designated as Best Sommelier in the United States. Andrea is currently Sommelier for Delta Air Lines, the winner of three James Beard awards, and Bon Appétit magazine as Wine and Spirits Professional of The Year in 2004.
Andrea Robinson was born in North Dakota and raised in Texas and Southern Indiana. From a young age, she had a deep appreciation for cooking and food. While attending college, she took a wine tasting class at a restaurant in Dallas, Texas—a pivotal moment that sparked her passion for wine.
Robinson earned degrees in economics and business from Southern Methodist University and began her career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. During this time, she volunteered at a local wine school, helping with tasks like pouring wine and cleaning glassware. In exchange, she took free classes and built connections within the wine industry. A turning point came when she led a tasting for Champagne Krug. Inspired, she resigned from Morgan Stanley the very next day to pursue a career in wine.
In 1990, Robinson embarked on a six-month journey through Europe by train and on foot, staying in hostels and immersing herself in wine culture. Upon returning to the U.S., she began working in the wine department at Windows on the World in New York City, where she was mentored by renowned wine expert Kevin Zraly. She eventually became the restaurant’s first female cellar master and went on to earn her Master Sommelier Diploma. She also competed in the World Championship of Sommeliers.
Andrea has written four top-selling wine and food books, including Everyday Dining with Wine, which won the prestigious IACP cookbook award. She has also created a ground-breaking wine stemware series called The ONE, which optimizes the tasting experience with a single, precision shape.
As host of her own online video wine course at andreawine.com, Andrea shares her knowledge with thousands of consumers and professionals each month. She has developed innovative beverage and hospitality training programs for Norwegian Cruise Line, Marriott, Starwood, Hilton Hotels, and Darden Corp. Andrea also speaks regularly to the travel trade, dozens of major corporations, consumer wine groups and top hospitality schools.
Andrea has hosted more than 100 episodes of her own ground-breaking television series’ for Scripps Networks, including the Food Network’s Quench, as well as Simply Wine and Pairings with Andrea on Fine Living network. She was featured on Working Mother magazine’s cover as a Working Mother of the Year, and she has been profiled in People, Glamour, Elle, NBC Nightly News, NBC’s Today show, CBS This Morning, The New York Times, Food & Wine magazine, and numerous others.
And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks!
At The Table – Manzana Products

Host Clark Wolf talks with Alissa Trenei, Marketing Manager of Manzana Products, about apple season in Sonoma County, her personal background, the agricultural history of Sebastopol, the current state of locally grown apples and dry farming. The two also discuss why Manzana is leaving the area, the products they offer, what will become of Sonoma County Apples, and what could become of the plant they’re leaving behind. To wrap up the show, they talk about the Gravenstein Apple Fair Pie contest and the judging criteria!
Ask The Expert: Raise The Roof with Letitia Hanke – WSI Smart Marketing
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Month of July- July 4th is where many celebrate the commemorating of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. 4th of July means many different things to different people but no matter how you celebrate, I hope you all celebrate it safely, with love and compassion.
Disability Pride Month where many also celebrate diversity and accomplishments of people with disabilities. A really great non profit that’s doing so much for people living with disabilities is Common Ground Society. If you’ve never heard of them, you’ll definitely want to look them up and go to their gala next year. It was one of my favorite galas!
Speaking of Galas, the LIME Foundation’s 10th anniversary gala is coming up on September 11th at the Luther Burbank Center. We appreciate all of our sponsors as without them we could not share our message in the most magnificent way possible. I’d like to personally thank the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, Redwood Credit Union, Sonoma Designers, Fondare Finish Construction and Active 20/30 club #50 for your generous sponsorship and we can’t wait to see you there. If you would like to come celebrate with us go to www.believelime.com to get your tickets and also see how you can win a 4 day stay in Cabo, Mexico!!
Roofing Tips of the Month
I appreciate the emails and messages I receive asking for a little more insight into the topics we discuss here on Raise the Roof. Today, I’d like to respond to an email I received asking me to go into more detail about roof warranties — and why they really matter.
- Manufacturer-Backed Quality
Warranties ensure that your materials meet high standards. For example, the IB Roof Systems we install carry15–30 year warranties on commercial flat roofs and lifetime warranties on residential roofs including protection against issues like ponding water.
When it comes to steep sloped roofs, ARS Roofing, is proud to be a GAF Master Elite® Certified Contractor — a distinction only 2% of roofers nationwide achieve. This certification allows us to offer extended 25-year workmanship warranties directly from the manufacturer plus you have a lifetime materials and labor warranty.
- Boosts Home Value & Buyer Confidence
Whether you're staying in your home or planning to sell, a transferable roof warranty can increase the property's value and appeal to future buyers.
- Peace of Mind
A strong warranty protects you from unexpected repair costs and gives you confidence that your investment is protected long-term.
So when you're comparing roofing proposals, don’t just look at the price. Look at who is standing behind the roof — because at ARS Roofing, we stand behind ours with integrity, quality, and the kind of warranties that give you true protection.
And then Ryan Kelly with WSI Smart Marketing (a big supporter of the LIME Foundation) joins the show! Letitia has been using his services for 10 years now herself!
