The Good Stuff – MacRostie Winery
In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk to Heidi Bridenhagen, Director of Winemaking at MacRostie Winery.
About Heidi Bridenhagen
At just 29, Heidi became the third winemaker in the history of MacRostie Winery and Vineyards. Today, she leads winemaking for MacRostie and Clockwise, while also overseeing Dough Wines, a philanthropic partnership with the James Beard Foundation.
With a degree in biochemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder and experience at Jackson Family Wines, Oyster Bay in New Zealand, and Sonoma-Cutrer, Heidi brings both scientific rigor and artistic vision to her craft. Since joining MacRostie, she has reimagined its Pinot Noir program, established the estate Nightwing Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, and helped earn more than 200 scores of 90+ points for MacRostie wines.
A passionate advocate for sustainability and inclusion, Heidi also leads MacRostie’s sustainability efforts and mentors the next generation of wine professionals. Recognized as a dynamic industry leader, she continues to push boundaries while honoring Sonoma County’s rich winemaking heritage.
About MacRostie Winery
Founded in 1987 by Steve MacRostie, MacRostie Winery and Vineyards has become a benchmark producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. With partnerships across more than 30 Chardonnay vineyards and 15 Pinot Noir sites, along with estate vineyards like Nightwing in the Petaluma Gap, MacRostie has access to some of the region’s most diverse and exceptional fruit. Today, Winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen carries forward Steve’s legacy, crafting wines through 130+ small-lot fermentations each vintage to highlight the character of each vineyard. Sustainability, hospitality, and a deep respect for the land remain at the heart of MacRostie, with every bottle made to capture a true sense of place and mark life’s memorable moments.
And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks!
