The Good Stuff – Flambeaux Wine
In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk to Art Murray, Co-Owner & Co-Founder of Flambeaux Wine.
Art Murray:
Art Murray is the Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Flambeaux Wine, a family-owned winery based in Healdsburg, California. Originally from New Orleans, Art's professional journey began in environmental law after graduating from the University of New Orleans and Tulane University Law School. He practiced law in New Orleans, focusing on environmental cases, including significant litigation against oil and gas companies for contamination issues.
In 2012, during a visit to his brother-in-law in Healdsburg, Art discovered a property with a vineyard in West Dry Creek. Captivated by the idea of vineyard life, he and his family relocated from New Orleans to Sonoma County, purchasing the property and establishing Flambeaux Wine in 2014 .
Flambeaux Wine/Family:
Flambeaux Wine is a family-owned winery located in Healdsburg, California, within the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Established in 2014, the winery is a collaborative effort of three generations of the Murray family: grandparents Pattie and Steve, their son Art, his wife Nicole, and granddaughters Alys, Elizabeth, Nia, and Lila. Originating from New Orleans—a city with roots dating back to the 1700s—the Murrays have transplanted their rich traditions of food, celebration, and hospitality to their new home in Sonoma County.
The name "Flambeaux" is inspired by the French word for "flaming torch." Historically, flambeaux were torchbearers who illuminated the streets during New Orleans' Mardi Gras celebrations, adding to the festive atmosphere. This tradition symbolizes the Murrays' commitment to bringing light, joy, and community togetherness to their winemaking endeavors. Flambeaux Wine offers a selection of wines, including Chardonnay, Rosé, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They also produce estate-grown extra virgin olive oil.
Winery dog cloned:
Stella, a Maremma Sheepdog, has served as the winery's ambassador, captivating visitors with her gentle demeanor and playing a vital role in guarding the vineyards. As Stella aged, Art sought to maintain her presence within the winery. Inspired by the idea of cloning, Murray collaborated with ViaGen Pets, a Texas-based company specializing in animal cloning, to create a genetic twin of Stella. This endeavor led to the birth of Mella, who arrived in California on January 14, 2025, at just under eight weeks old. All in all it is reported that it cost the Murray family 50,000 dollars to clone Stella.
And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks!
At The Table – Mother’s Day Special

Host Clark Wolf talks with Gergana Karabelov, Co-Owner of Patisserie Angelica, about the bakery, their menu offerings & Mother's Day specials. Then Clark speaks about flowers, their significance to him & his mother, as well as highlighting local florists. And towards the end of the show Clark brings on Producer Jeff to talk about his Mother & Grandmother, their recipes and local chocolates you can buy for your Mother on Mother's Day!
Ask The Expert: Raise The Roof with Letitia Hanke – Generation Housing
In today’s episode, Letitia Hanke, CEO of ARS Roofing and Founder and Executive Director of The LIME Foundation opens up the show talking about her upcoming feature in the North Bay Women Magazine, the "Bring Back The Build" Contractor Forum with featured panelists from Sonoma Clean Power, HVAC Essentials & Generation Housing, AND the "Believe The Dream Gala" taking place on September 11th at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts!
This month's roofing tips:
- Cheap Today, Costly Tomorrow--The lowest bid might save you a few bucks now, but it could cost you thousands later. If a contractor cuts corners on materials or labor, you may end up with leaks, mold, or even a full roof replacement way before schedule.
- What's Missing in that price?--If a bid is dramatically lower than others, something's probably missing--like proper insurance, permits or high-quality underlayment. Be sure to ask questions! A reputable roofer should be transparent.
- Are they even licensed and insured?--Some low bidders are unlicensed, uninsured, or operating without workers' comp. That puts YOU at risk. If someone gets hurt on your property, you could be liable. Always verify credentials. This is where CSLB.ca.gov comes into play!
- The 'Change Order' Trap--Beware of contractors who underbid just to win the job. Once work begins, they might hit you with a surprise 'change orders' for things that should have been included up front!
- Quality Labor costs more (for good reason)--Skilled, trained workers cost more than day laborers. A quality crew will install your roof right the first time, protecting your investment and your home!
- Warranties Matter--Ask about the workmanship warranty. A low bid often comes with little to no warranty, and if the company disappears, you're left with no protection!
- Reputation Over Price--Check reviews, talk to past clients, and go with a contractor who stands behind their work. Peace of mind is PRICELESS!
In the second half of the show, Jen Klose, Executive Director of Generation Housing calls in to speak with Letitia about the nonprofit that advocates for affordable housing in Sonoma County!
