In today’s episode, Letitia Hanke, CEO of ARS Roofing and Founder and Executive Director of The LIME Foundation opens the show with details about Pride month. There are many ways to celebrate and support the LGBTQIA+ community. Check out SonomaCountyPride.org for a list of events all month long, and posimages.org for Sonoma County's LGBTQIA+ Community Center.
Letitia also shares tips to maintain your roof as fire season begins:
1 – Regular maintenance can spot issues before they become a problem! Loose shingles can trap debris, which could be fuel for a wildfire.
2 – Clean your gutters and roof, and consider gutter guards.
3 – Trim overhanging branches - any vegetation touching or overhanging your home could catch on fire, and subsequently catch your home on fire.
The NextGen Trades Academy has open classes coming up for August 8th. Apply today at The LIME Foundation.
Mark your calendar for the 9th Annual Believe in the Dream Gala coming up on September 12th at the Graton Event Center. Letitia thanks supporters of The LIME Foundation, including Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, ARS Roofing, Active 20/30 Club 50, Midstate Construction, Nature Pacific Pest Control, and Exchange Bank.
In the second half of the show, Letitia chats with Steve Schneider, CEO of Homes 4 the Homeless. After losing his home in the 2017 wildfires, Steve spent time living in a hotel and noticed first hand the issues of those living on the streets or in hotels, and thought that there needed to be an affordable, dignified way to get people into homes. He started by using vocational training to help students build shower bathrooms for the homeless, which helped students learn skills while creating a very valuable resource for the homeless. After doing some shipping container housing on the east coast, Steve got connected with Vessel, a company that builds manufactured housing. This kind of ready made home is cost efficient, and can be in the reach of those on limited incomes. Learn more at homes4thehomeless.org
