San Rafael Police Ramp Up Enforcement for Cars Stopping on SMART Tracks

Police in San Rafael are working this week to keep cars off the SMART train tracks.  California law forbids stopping on tracks and a ticket in Marin County can lead to a nearly 500-dollar fine.  San Rafael police are ramping up enforcement this week after they and SMART employees have noticed a lot of drivers ignoring signs and stopping on the tracks at crossings.  Police say, with the commuter trains set to begin service as soon as next month, keeping the tracks clear is a serious safety issue.
